Sharing Some Happiness Saturday - Painting with Friends

Painting Party

Continuing our HAPPY theme this Saturday and joining Angela from Cuddles & Cartoons on her new This Made Me Happy Link Up.

OK time to be honest ... the day they handed out art talents, I was not in line!?! LoL Recently some friends got together to do a Paint Party. I have NEVER painted any kind of artwork in my life, but thought it would be a great time to give it a try. I was amazed that I ended up with such a beautiful picture (shown above)! They do a GREAT job walking you through the process step by step. It was so neat that even though all of us did the same picture, they were all a little different. I admit I was nervous starting out, but enjoyed spending time with friends and was happy with the result. Recently there have been some specials on Groupon on these type of painting parties. If you get a chance, give it a try ... venture out of your comfort zone and you might be pleasantly surprised with the results and bring some happiness into your life!

Appetizer - Emerald Isle Dip

St. Patrick's day is coming up quickly and it will bring many parties and get togethers. This appetizer from Taste of Home caught my eye as perfect for your Euchre Card Party or any St. Patrick's Day gathering!

The shamrock shape adds a festive flavor which will add to the FUN!! Give this dip a try and leave a comment and let us know how you liked it :-)

Yum
Emerald Isle Dip

2 cups mayonnaise
2 cups (16 ounces) sour cream
1 package (2 ounces) thinly sliced deli corned beef, finely chopped
2 tablespoons dried minced onion
2 tablespoons dried parsley flakes
2 tablespoons dill weed, divided
1/2 to 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 round unsliced loaf (1 pound) sourdough, rye or Hawaiian Sweet bread
Assorted vegetables and crackers

1. In a bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, corned beef, onion, parsley, 1 tablespoon dill and seasoned salt. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

2. Trace the large shamrock pattern onto a piece of waxed paper; cut out. Place on loaf. Carefully cut out and removed shamrock; set aside.

3. Hollow out loaf, leaving a 1/2-in. shell. Cut removed bread and cutout shamrock into cubes.

4. Fill shell with dip; sprinkle with remaining dill. Serve with bread cubes, vegetables and crackers.

Dessert - St. Patrick's Day Jello Salad

To add to the FUN of your Euchre Card Party or home Euchre Tournament, include some FUN food!! Since St. Patrick's Day is coming up this month, I thought this would be a great addition to add some green to your St Patrick's Day Euchre Card Party. I got this recipe from a fundraiser cookbook that has all those great recipes your Mom used to make. We have been enjoying it for years. It's great as a dessert or jello salad for dinner. Enjoy!!

St. Patrick's Day Jello Salad

  • 1 small package lime jello
  • 1 small package pistachio pudding
  • 1 lb small curd cottage cheese
  • 1 large can crushed pineapple with juice
  • 1 (8 oz) tub of Cool Whip
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows (I like the colored ones)

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl and chill. (Use no water)

3/4 Euchre ... Tuesday Tip

I thought it would be FUN to have Tuesday Tips to share some interesting Euchre tips ... of course on Tuesdays!

When in doubt, win the trick!

This might be the best Euchre tip to date by Edmond Hoyle. We all know that winning tricks is what Euchre is all about!!
