What does the term "guarded or protected left" mean in Euchre?
Having the left bower and another trump card in the player's hand; the left bower is protected because the player can sacrifice the lower trump card if the right bower is led, leaving the left as the highest remaining trump card (i.e. guaranteed to take a trick)!
